- Step 1.
- Draw the outlines of circles on the bowl using your fingertip and the petroleum jelly. Apply the petroleum jelly heavily between the circles so that the paint won't stick there.
- Step 2.
- Apply the first colours to the bowl with a large paintbrush, making sure that they are evenly spaced. The paint should be applied thickly so that it does not dry too quickly.
- Step 3.
- Apply the remaining colours. Allow the paint to run into the other colours in places to create a random, dribbled effect.
- Step 4.
- While the paint is still wet, use a hard stipple brush or an old toothbrush to spatter the entire bowl with each of the four colours. Because the spattering is done when the paint is still wet, all the colours will merge slighly.
- Step 5.
- When the paint is completely dry, gently remove the petroleum jelly with a paper towel, then wash the bowl in warm, soapy water. When dry, bake in the oven following the manufacturer's instructions.
Variation: Paint the inner and outer surface with two different colours. Draw spiral motif or any other motif on the outer surface.
