Supplies:
- Light Periwinkle and Sunflower acrylic paint
- Gesso
- No.1 flat and 2/0 liner brushes
- Scrapbook papers
- Faux mosaic grout
- Faux mosaic tile adhesive or other matte adhesive
- Faux mosaic tile glaze or other thick dimensional glaze
- Scissors
- Palette
- Water basin
- Paper towels
- Exterior gloss vanish
Instructions:
- Step 1.
- Clean and smooth the pots before painting. Paint the bottom section of the pot with gesso using no.1 flat brush. Clean the brush and use it to paint the upper rim of the pot with light periwinkle. Slip-slao faux grout on the bottom section with the no.1 flat brush. Allow grout to dry completely.
- Step 2.
- Cut pieces of papers into tiles appropriate for the size of the pot into uneven shapes that emulate broken tile.
- Step 3.
- Brush adhesive onto a small portion of the front of the holder, brush glue on the back of the tiles and place tiles on the adhesive. Brush adhesive over the top of the tiles to secure.
- Step 4.
- Outline a tile with faux glaze using the applicator bottle, then fill in the center. Repeat for each tile and let glaze dry completely. Appy two more coats of glaze to each tile, letting each coat dry thoroughly.
- Step 5.
- With sunflower paint thinned 40% with water, use a 2/0 liner brush to paint wavy line in the center of the rim. For the best protection, varnish the painted rim with an exterior gloss varnish.
