Faux Mosaics-Instead of glass or ceramic tiles, faux mosaics use bits of cut paper - pretty scrapbook paper, stickers, wallpaper cutouts, favorite photos, stamped and painted cardstock. In three easy step, no-mess steps, you can create a mosaic masterpiece in minutes, not hours. It’s so easy even kids can do it!
Supplies:
- Wall mirror with wooden frame
- Wicker White acrylic paint or gesso
- Coordinating scrapbook papers or multicoloured paper
- No. 12 flat and no.20 shader brush
- Faux Mosaics grout
- Faux Mosaics Tile Adhesive or other matte adhesive
- Faux Mosaics Tile Glaze or other thick dimensional glaze
- Scissors
- Palette
- Water basin
- Paper towels
- Outsoor sealer
Instructions:
- Step 1.
- Prepare wood and basecoat with gesso or white paint. Apply Faux Mosaics Grout on the wooden frame with slip-slap technique using no.20 shader brush.
- Step 2.
- Cut the paper into tile pieces. Next, brush tile adhesive onto the grout using the no.20 shader brush. Working on small area, apply adhesive to the back of the paper tiles.
- Step 3.
- Place the tiles on the surface in a random pattern. Brush adhesive over the tiles as you place them down to keep them flat and secure.
- Step 4.
- Outline the tile with glaze using the applicator bottle. Then fill in the center of the tile. Apply three coats of glaze to each til, allowing the glaze to dry to a clear finish before applying the next coat.
